Growing swiss chard in containers is useful if you don’t have a lot of space on the ground or you want to organize your garden.

How To Grow Swiss Swiss Chard
Before you grow swiss chard, you’ll need to have the following…
- Area With consistent sunlight
- Medium to large pot with drainage
- Organic Loam Soil
- Compost(optional)
- Swiss Chard seeds
- Water soluble Fertilizer
Choose Your Location
To grow swiss chard, you’ll want to choose a space with consistent sunlight with partial shade.
Fill Your Container
Pour the organic soil into the pot. You’ll want to make sure the soil has a pH between 6-7.
The area you place your container should get at least 6 hours of steady sunlight.
Your container should be at least a foot deep and have drainage holes.
Add Water
Water your swiss chard consistently until soil is moist(but not soaking).
Every 2-4 weeks, add fertilizer to the soil to promote growth.
Optionally, you can start growing swiss chard indoors 4 weeks before the last frost, then transplant to a garden bed.
Swiss chard can be planted in the fall and even winter(if mild).
Even though Swiss Chard isn’t known to attract pests, you should beware of leaf miners and aphids.
Harvesting Swiss Chard
Collect the leaves of chard that look the healthiest and leave any that you won’t eat soon planted.
